Two right-backs Arsenal will target in summer window including forgotten Premier League star

Arsenal have had some extremely successful transfer windows over the last few years.

The Gunners have added the likes of Oleksandr Zinchenko, Gabriel Jesus, Martin Odegaard and Aaron Ramsdale to their squad over the last couple of years - propelling them up the Premier League table as they now sit top of the pile. One player that has been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium in recent times is Real Valladolid right-back Ivan Fresneda and football.london reported last month that the north Londoners were tracking the Spaniard.

The talented defender possesses the ability to play in an inverted role, tucking into midfield when in possession, something that fits Mikel Arteta's tactical philosophy. Now, transfer guru Ben Jacobs has reported that Arsenal are still keen on Fresneda, potentially revisiting a transfer this summer.

"Arsenal will look at a right-back this summer to add a bit of depth and plan for the long term,” Jacobs told Caught Offside. “Arsenal’s priority remains Ivan Fresneda, who they tried to sign in January.

"Fresneda opted to stay at Real Valladolid until the end of the season despite offers from both the Gunners and Borussia Dortmund. Fresneda’s agent Luis Bardaji actually said up to 30 teams had made enquiries for the 18-year-old.

"Newcastle were also tracking him.” Another right-back that the Gunners are interested in is Southampton star Tino Livramento, who previously played for Chelsea before leaving for St. Mary's Stadium in the summer of 2021.

Jacobs added: “Tino Livramento is another intriguing option, who has had horrific luck with injuries. Chelsea have a buy-back option active in 2023, but it’s not thought they’ll activate it, especially now Gusto has signed from Lyon.

"And all suitors will obviously have doubts given his long spell out on the sidelines. But Livramento will be monitored when fit with a view to a possible move over the next 2-3 windows by both Arsenal and Manchester City.

"And if he hadn’t suffered his injury he may already be at one of those two clubs already.”
