Two people are being being quizzed by police after a handgun and large amounts of cocaine and Ketamine were found in a home.
In the early hours of Tuesday, May 10, Merseyside Police officers spotted a man riding a bike on Prescot Road and "acting nervously". After noticing a strong smell of cannabis the officers searched the man and found two mobile phones, one of which was believed to be stolen.
A 25-year-old man from Liverpool was arrested on suspicion of theft and taken into custody where he remains. Officers then searched a home in Old Swan and found a handgun along with a large quantity of drugs suspected to be cocaine and ketamine.

A woman, 53, and a man, 66, from Liverpool - who were at the home - were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to sell class A and B drugs and possession of a firearm. Both were taken to a police station in Merseyside for questioning by detectives and remain in custody.
Detective Inspector Gavin Mulcahy said: “Thanks to the swift action of our officers who stopped this man and conducted a search of an address in Liverpool, a dangerous weapon and two types of Class B and A drugs that could have endangered the lives of others in our communities have been taken off our streets.
“The arrest shows there is no room for guns in any area of Merseyside and we will not allow such weapons or drugs that threaten the safety of others in our community.
“Please contact us if you think someone could be using weapons or supplying drugs near where you live so we can continue to take similar action and stop the spread of illegal drugs that could endanger lives and across Liverpool.”
