Two qualities Eddie Howe has improved to bring ‘joy’ back to Newcastle amid top seven prediction

Pundits Robbie Earle and Robbie Mustoe have praised Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe in bringing the 'joy' back to St. James' Park after their 5-1 win over Brentford.

Goals from Jacob Murphy, Miguel Almiron and a brace from Brazilian maestro Bruno Guimaraes coupled with an own goal from Bees defender Ethan Pinnock meant all three points for the hosts as they moved up the Premier League table.

Speaking on The 2 Robbies podcast, Mustoe praised Howe's ability to bring out the most in his players and how their recent performances have bought back the best feelings for the fans.

"It was a great win for Newcastle and I just want to say a few things about Eddie Howe because he seems like he's got a great balance of getting more quality out of your hard-working guys - like the Almiron's and your Murphy's and that - and more quality out of his better players like his Bruno Guimaraes' and people like that who are putting their foot in and working hard.

"Think of people like Isak and Saint-Maximin when they're in the team, they're the same. I think the biggest thing is the joy back in the football club, the fans are enjoying the football club again.

"You hear things behind the scenes like the women's team being bought in, the training ground being looked at, the academy is being adjusted, it's the things happening off the pitch as well as on it that are making this club something to start to be envious of.

"There won't be long before there's a big seven - I think Newcastle... I think we'll be talking about a big seven rather than a big six sooner than we think."

Earle continued the praise and noted how the new Saudi-led ownership have allowed Howe to bring fun football for the fans to love and enjoy.

"I agree, but they're doing it very carefully. I did expect some more big names to come in earlier which hasn't happened yet but fair play, some additions like Bruno Guimaraes have been outstanding - he's probably the first bigger name, younger name for their future.

"I think they have to be very careful of Financial Fair Play, they're respecting that which is good, but you're right - I know that area, the North East, very well and the fans couldn't love their clubs any more and it's been so many years where the fans feel like the ownership has let them down.

"Now they've got overseas investment and they're starting the fruits of that and the football coming from Eddie Howe who takes a ton of the credit. They're doing it slowly, carefully and you've got to love what Eddie Howe is doing, providing entertaining football.

"If you give the Geordies attacking, quick, slick, creative football - they love it! They love it! Even if they don't win all the trophies in the world, they love love love attacking, flair football and Eddie Howe has given it to them."
