Two prisoners have been taken to hospital after spending more than a day on the roof of a Queensland jail, sending it into lockdown.
The inmates ended their rooftop protest by climbing down at about midday (AEST) on Tuesday, after accessing a rooftop at Borallon Training and Correctional Centre west of Brisbane some 26 hours earlier.
"Officers communicated with the prisoners and the centre was locked down to ensure the safety of officers and prisoners while the matter was resolved," a Queensland Corrective Services spokesperson said.
Both prisoners were transported to hospital for assessment.
There are no reports of staff injuries.
"The centre will progressively unlock, to ensure the safety of officers and prisoners, before business as usual resumes," the spokesperson said.
Inmates who participate in rooftop protests face a range of sanctions.
It is a criminal offence for prisoners to access a jail roof, with offenders facing a maximum penalty of two years imprisonment.
