PHUKET: Two pistols have been found near the crime scene where an Indian man with a history of criminal activity was murdered, but police are uncertain about their link to the murder.

On Thursday, a police search near a beachfront villa on Rawai Beach in found two handguns — a Walther PP and a CZ. They were dumped into the sea, about 20 metres from the beach where Jimi “Slice” Sandhu was shot dead last Friday night.

Investigators said they were trying to find out whether the guns were used in the killing as they were registered to two Thai names.

Sandhu was killed by multiple shots at a parking lot of the villa by two gunmen donning white hoody jackets and short trousers. The incident and the images of the two suspects were captured on surveillance cameras installed in the area.

Deputy police spokesman Pol Col Kritsana Pattanacharoen said after another meeting of the investigation team on the resort island on Thursday that investigators were compiling evidence with the hope to seek arrest warrants from the Phuket court for the two suspects.

Police have said the two gunmen were believed to be foreigners, and the murder was likely linked to rival gangs.

The investigation entered the sixth day on Thursday.
