Two drivers taken to emergency department after head-on crash, police say

Drivers who crashed in a head-on collision overnight had to be freed from their vehicles before they were taken to the emergency department, ACT police say.

The driver of a grey Nissan utility was believed to have serious but non-life threatening wounds while the driver of a silver Subaru SUV was also injured.

A police spokesperson said there was also a passenger in the Subaru SUV who sustained minor injuries.

The incident occurred on Isabella Drive near Chisholm about 7.50pm on Tuesday.

A large section of Isabella Drive between Coyne Street and Goldstein Crescent was closed until 1am as paramedics, firefighters and ACT police worked on the scene.

Images released by police show the vehicle wreckage and clean up efforts to soak up any residual fuel on the road.

The spokesperson indicated police could lay charges once they have gathered more evidence about the crash.

Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with relevant dash-cam footage to make themselves known to police as investigations continue.

Witnesses are asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 and quote reference P2274701. Information can be provided anonymously.
