TWO people are in a serious condition at the John Hunter Hospital following a car crash at Singleton on Monday evening.
The two-car crash occurred just before 5.15pm on the New England Highway at McDougalls Hill near the intersection of Maison Dieu Road on the western side of Singleton.
A female driver suffered multiple injuries in the crash and was transferred to Newcastle by ambulance.
The male driver of the second vehicle sustained possible head injuries in the accident and was also transported to the John Hunter Hospital.
Traffic was affected in both directions for over an hour and there were significant delays for motorists.
Emergency crews cleared the road and the highway was reopened before 7pm on Monday evening.
