Victorian police have launched an investigation after the bodies of two people were found on a walking track in the state’s Otway Ranges, but say the deaths were not being treated as suspicious.

The bodies of a man and a woman were found on Friday morning at Gellibrand Lower, near Wreck beach in the state’s south-west, police said.

Police said the exact circumstances of the deaths were yet to be determined, but they were not treating them as suspicious.

“The man and woman, who are yet to be formally identified, were found by a passerby on a walking track near Wreck Beach about 10.45am,” a spokesperson said.

“Officers have cordoned off the area and a crime scene has been established.

“At this early stage, police are not searching for anyone else.”

Police will prepare a report for the coroner.
