Two people have died after a caravan fire at a holiday park, police have said.

Lincolnshire police said they were called to Golden Beach Holiday Park in Ingoldmells at 3.53am on Saturday.

The victims were reported to be a 10-year-old girl and a 48-year-old man. A spokesperson said next of kin had been informed and would be supported by specially trained officers.

Fire and rescue crews attended from Skegness, Wainfleet, Spilsby and Alford. There were two crews still at the scene on Saturday afternoon, and fire investigations continued.

A police spokesperson said: “We have crime scene investigators on site, and we are carrying out inquires to determine the exact cause of the fire.

“We are at the very early stages of our investigation and as such we are keeping an open mind.”

National Grid said its engineers had disconnected the local electricity supply to allow the police and fire service to carry out investigations at the site.

It said it would aim to restore power to “50 locally affected customers” once the investigations were completed.
