Aaron Rodgers’ arrival in the AFC East signals a seismic shift in difficulty for the New England Patriots.
Not only do they have to worry about the perennial contending Buffalo Bills and the burgeoning Miami Dolphins, but now, they’ll have to contend with a rapidly improving New York Jets team that just added one of the top-10 quarterbacks to ever play the game.
That reality isn’t lost on the Patriots defense, which will now face the arduous task of defending a Rodgers-led Jets offense twice a year. Patriots safety Jalen Mills and defensive tackle Davon Godchaux took to social media to react to the blockbuster trade on Monday.
“Division just got better.. Let’s get it!!” Mills tweeted.

“Draft Day starting already I see! AFC East will be a great division!” Godchaux posted.

The Jets came close to making the playoffs last season with a shaky quarterback situation. Now, they’ll have an opportunity to right those wrongs with a former Super Bowl champion and future Hall of Famer.
With that said, the Patriots defense is nothing to sneeze at considering most of their talent will be returning in 2023. They’ll be ready to go toe-to-toe with whoever is under center.
