Two NFL London Games at Tottenham 'leaked' before schedule officially released

Two NFL London Games to be held at Tottenham appear to have been leaked a week before the league will reportedly release the 2023 regular season schedule.

In January, the NFL announced that the Buffalo Bills and the Tennessee Titans would play at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium during the upcoming season. Further details about the dates of those two games or their opponents are yet to go public.

The Jacksonville Jaguars will again play in London this year at Wembley Stadium, with additional information shrouded in secrecy. That is, until now. Apparent details about those scheduled games are easily accessible on Google when searching for events scheduled to take place at Spurs' stadium.

Both games show as taking place on back-to-back Sundays in October, with the Bills first up on October 8. The Titans are then shown to be playing October 15, the following weekend, both with 2:30pm BST start times.

ESPN reported late last month that the league are targeting Thursday, May 11, to announce the 2023 schedule, one day earlier than last year's release date. The one date that is known and you can safely circle on your calendar is Thursday, September 7. That will be the game that opens the regular season.

The Kansas City Chiefs, as is traditional for Super Bowl winners, are expected to host the NFL Kickoff Game and are also playing games overseas in the coming months. They will play in an as-yet-unnamed city in Germany, with the New England Patriots set to visit the country too.

Neither franchise have played there before, with the first game in Germany played last season when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers beat the Seattle Seahawks 21-16 at Munich's Allianz Arena. London, meanwhile, is a much more regular destination for NFL teams.

Buffalo and Tennessee have both previously played there, in 2015 and 2018, respectively. For the Jaguars, the capital city is their second home, and this will be their tenth appearance there.

London has hosted 33 NFL games, dating back to the inaugural one in 2007 when the New York Giants beat the Miami Dolphins. Historically, fixtures have been played throughout October, although matches have been in late September and early November before.

Wembley is by far the most regular venue, hosting 24 games. Another six have been at Tottenham's stadium in recent years, plus three at Twickenham Stadium.

Last season also saw games played in Mexico at the Estadio Azteca for the first time in three years when the San Francisco 49ers inflicted a 38-10 defeat on the Arizona Cardinals. That was the league's fifth match in Mexico City, but it is not due to do so again this season.
