Two new shops planned for Kilmarnock as developer hopes to create row of stores

Ambitious plans could see two new shops pop up in an area of Kilmarnock undergoing serious regeneration.

Proposals have been lodged to construct two commercial units on Hill Street, according to blueprints submitted to East Ayrshire Council planners.

The new units would sandwich the existing Key Store to create a mini row of shops.

Vacant land on either side would make way for the development proposed by applicant Mohammed Ramzan.

Four car park spaces at the Rosebank Place side of the site would be created along with a three-space loading bay on Hill Street.

The application does not state what, if any, retailers are lined up for the units. But one blueprint does say the new stores will be for "mixed use light commercial"

Currently, 43 new council homes are being constructed on Witch Road, a short distance along from the shop.

East Ayrshire Council planners will rule on the plans at a future date.
