Two more Ayrshire communities have been presented with life-saving defibrillator kits.
Ochiltree Bowling Club, in Mill Street, received the equipment which was generously donated by B&G Contracts and Bowman Garden Machinery.
And another device will be sited at Greenhead Playing Field, New Cumnock thanks to Confida FM.
The initiative – devised by East Ayrshire Council’s health and safety service and procurement – encourages local contractors to donate life-saving equipment for distribution within the communities where they are undertaking work.
It’s part of their obligations to provide wider local community benefits during the life of their contract with the local authority.
And David Doran, the council's health and safety manager, is delighted to see the rollout of the scheme benefit another two local communities.
He said: “It’s great to see this initiative between ourselves and procurement coming to fruition.
“We want to make East Ayrshire a defibrillator council within the next five years by installing community access equipment in as many prominent locations as possible across the authority.”
Applications are welcomed from any community groups and clubs based in East Ayrshire who would like to benefit from this equipment.
Further details on how the initiative works and how to apply can be found on the East Ayrshire Council wellbeing website – including a full list of locations of current defibrillators in the region; how to register your defibrillator and information on how to use and maintain the equipment.
