Two Met officers arrested over woman’s ‘rape, kidnap and assault’ in new blow

Two Metropolitan Police officers have been arrested after a woman alleged she was kidnapped, assaulted and raped.

The off-duty pair and another man are accused of taking the woman by taxi to a flat following their meeting at a club in Kingston, south-west London.

She raised the alarm after the incident, said to have happened at a north London property early on Sunday, The Sun reported.

The PCs, based on the Met’s North West command unit, were detained by colleagues.

One officer was held on suspicion of kidnap, rape and common assault.

Detectives bailed him until June over the sex assault claim but dropped the other two alleged offences.

The second PC was arrested on suspicion of kidnap and possessing Class A drugs, along with the third man for kidnap only.

They were kept in custody and released. Both have been suspended from duty pending further inquiries.

Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley has vowed to clean up the force’s reputation following recent scandals including Sarah Everard’s murder by PC Wayne Couzens, who worked in the same armed unit as serial rapist David Carrick.

It comes just weeks after Baroness Louise Casey’s review found the Met institutionally racist, misogynist and homophobic.

A police spokesman said: “Two serving Met officers have been suspended from duty after being arrested.

“The arrests relate to an incident that occurred on Sunday, 30 April and began in Kingston. The officers were off duty at the time.

“A woman is being supported by specially trained officers.

“The Directorate of Professional Standards has been informed and a referral has been made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.”
