Two men who had a "big dander" around Northern Ireland last year for an armed forces charity are planning something even bigger this year.
Last year, Connor Ferguson and Ian Reid took part in the 'Big Dander Around Our Wee Country' where they raised over £22,000 after walking around NI in the space of 12 days in aid of local charity Beyond the Battlefield, smashing their target of £10,000.
Now the pair are taking on an even bigger challenge that will see them walk just over 600 miles from Stormont, through Scotland, England, Wales and Ireland, before returning home to Belfast.
Speaking to Belfast Live, Connor said that they were amazed at the success their fundraising efforts had last year and wanted to do even more this year to support the armed forces charity.
The money they raised last year has been used to help establish a veteran's retreat in Portavogie which is due to open in the coming months.
Connor said: "Last year we did our Big Dander Round Our Wee Country and got such an amazing response from the public with their support and donations. We set a target of £10,000 and managed to raise more than double that, raising over £22,000.
"This year we wanted to do something even bigger and walk around the UK and Ireland and are hoping that we can be joined on the way by local veteran's groups and charities as we pass through their towns and cities.
"The money that we raised last year has been put to great use by helping with the creation of a new Veterans Retreat run by Beyond the Battlefield, which will be the only one of its kind in Northern Ireland, and provide a place for current and former armed forces members to come for support and respite."
Along with walking hundreds of miles in aid of the charity, Connor and Ian have also set up the Big Dander Coffee Company which donates a percentage of its takings to local mental health and PTSD charities.
The pair will be setting off from Stormont on May 26 and hope to complete their journey within 17 days.
