Two men have been mowed down in hit and run attacks in Edinburgh, with cops now hunting the drivers.

One man was hit by a car at Westside Plaza, in the Wester Hailes area, at around 9.30am on Thursday April 14.

The 45-year-old is currently in a serious condition in The Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.

Police say the incident is now being treated as attempted murder.

The vehicle involved has been found by officers but cops are hunting those involved with the incident.

Anyone with information including dashcam footage, is being urged to come forward.

Detective Inspector George Calder from CID at Corstorphine Police Station said: “The vehicle did not stop after the incident, but has now been recovered by officers, we are still trying to trace the occupants.”

Police are also investigating another hit-and-run in Edinburgh, which took place on Broomhouse Drive at around 6:30pm on Thursday.

The two incidents are not believed to be linked.

The incident has left a 40-year-old pedestrian fighting for his life in the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “At around 6.30pm on Thursday, April 14 officers attended a report of a 40-year-old male pedestrian seriously injured on Broomhouse Drive in Edinburgh after he was involved in a collision with a vehicle.

"The male was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh where his condition is described as critical but stable.

"The vehicle involved did not stop at the scene and enquires are ongoing to identify the driver.

"The road has since been reopened.

“Any information should be passed to police by calling 101, quoting incident number 2846 of 14 April, 2022.”
