Two men have been killed and two others seriously injured after a horror crash on the M25 in the early hours of Thursday.
Police said the single-vehicle crash happened about 3am near the Croydon junction with the M23 close to Bletchingley, Surrey.
A Surrey Police spokesperson said: “A 31-year-old man and 28-year-old man have sadly died at the scene. Two other men have been taken to hospital with serious injuries.
“We are asking motorists to avoid the area and find alternative route.”
Officers appealed for witnesses with dash camera footage to make contact.
The M25 was closed anticlockwise between Junction 8 (Redhill) and Junction 6 (Godstone) as an investigation took place on Thursday.
Motorists are being warned to expect long delays around the area as police carry out their investigation.
“Surrey Police will be carrying out collision investigation work. The anti-clockwise carriageway is expected to remain closed throughout this morning,” said National Highways.
“There are currently 4 miles of congestion on approach to the closure causing 60 minute delays above normal travel time.”
