Two men in a van tried to abduct a baby from a pushchair.
Police state that the incident occurred at roughly 3pm on June 10 while a mum was walking with her baby in a pushchair when a white van pulled up nearby.
The two men got out of the vehicle in Poole, grabbed the pushchair and attempted to take the baby from it, The Mirror reports.
The brave mum kicked out at one of the men and they got back into the van and escaped, leaving the baby unharmed.
Police say that one of the men is described as white, six feet two inches tall, aged in his 30s and of medium build with short dark brown hair.
He was wearing a black vest, black trousers and black trainers. He had a tattoo on his right hand.
The second man is described as white, six feet two inches tall and of medium build with short stubble. He was also wearing black clothing as well as a thin silver chain around his neck.
Police say the attempted abduction must have been frightening for the woman.
Detective Inspector Katie Starkie, of Bournemouth CID, said: “This was understandably a very distressing incident for the mother involved and we have launched a full investigation.
"At the moment the motive for these men’s actions remains unclear and we are doing all we can to identify them."
Police investigations have included analysing CCTV footage and conducting door to door inquiries about what happened.
Officers are also using forensic techniques and have asked the public to check their dashcams and cameras linked to doorbells.
They have also moved to reassure the public and will increase police presence in the area.
“Our enquiries include house-to-house, a review of CCTV footage in the area and forensic work.
“I would urge any residents with home CCTV systems or doorbell cameras, as well as any motorists with dashcam who were in the area, to please check their footage for anything that might assist our investigation.
“I appreciate reports of this nature are likely to cause concern for the local community.
"There will be an increased police presence in the area as we continue to investigate this incident and officers can be approached by anyone with information or concerns."
The Mirror told last month of a "harrowing" experience at a hotel in Turkey where parents claimed they were assaulted by two men who attempted to abduct their children.
The incident was alleged to have happened in the early hours of May 16, when Elaine and Phil had a night of socialising descend into "pure and utter panic".
They were on a family holiday with their two children, aged 10 and 11, Elaine said.
The family had been in Turkey for a week before the incident occurred.
Speaking on RTE's Liveline, Elaine said the family were having a lovely time had spent the day outside of the hotel.
When they returned, they went to the outdoor bar for a late night drink and they met two English couples, one of whom they had been socialising with the night before.
Two men then followed the family into the lift and were allegedly "beating the c**p" out of Elaine and Phil while trying to drag them out.
"Phil was clutched onto the poles on either side of the lift. He was gripped on and wouldn't let go," Elaine said.
"One of my children, I don't know how, she kicked one the men and ran out of the lift and grabbed her brother.
"The two of them ran to the toilet which was beside the lift. My son had my phone and they dialled police."
