Qld stab murder accused named in court

A duo accused of involvement in the brazen stabbing death of a man in a Brisbane street have had their matters mentioned in court, as the hunt continues for two other men.

Stuart Galloway, 34, and Luke Thomas Moore, 34, have both been charged with murdering 23-year-old Levi Johnson in Mansfield on Monday afternoon.

Galloway initially faced weapons offences after being arrested in bushland on the same day as the attack, but now faces a murder charge.

He was not present when his matter was briefly mentioned in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Thursday, where it was adjourned until October 4.

Moore also wasn't present in court on Thursday, where his matter was adjourned to the same date.

Both were remanded in custody and could not apply for bail in the magistrates court given of the seriousness of the offences.

Moore's lawyer Michael Gatenby told reporters his client plans to defend the charges, and will likely apply for bail in the Supreme Court at a later date.

"The difficulty we have at the moment is that the police have failed to identify what act or omission he's done, so we'll need to get some further particulars," Mr Gatenby said.

Police believe Thomas Myler, 35, and Kyle Martin, 24, were also involved in the attack and could be hiding in the eastern suburbs of Capalaba, Birkdale or Ransom.

Detective Superintendent Andrew Massingham urged the men to hand themselves in and anyone with information about their whereabouts to contact police.

"There is the potential for both of them to be armed and also dangerous - that is our concern and that is why we are seeking assistance from the public," he told reporters on Wednesday.

Mr Johnson died from his wounds after he was allegedly stabbed outside a gym in Mansfield on Monday afternoon.

Two cars boxed in his vehicle in the gym's car park before four men got out and started smashing his windows, police said.

Mr Johnson ran away but two men caught up with him nearby, and he was stabbed multiple times.
