Two men charged with murder over human remains found in Glass House Mountains

Police say one of the men charged with murder over human remains found in a Sunshine Coast forest this week was living with the woman they believe the remains belong to.

Donna Howe, a 57-year-old Caboolture woman, was last seen in early May and reported missing to police on June 5.

Detective Senior Sergeant Anthony Green, from Caboolture's Criminal Investigation Branch, said as police examined the remains, they were also investigating a possible link to Ms Howe's disappearance.

He said while a post-mortem on Friday would provide more information, police believed the remains were that of Ms Howe.

Police have charged a 41-year-old man and a 31-year-old man, both from Caboolture, over the death.

On Wednesday, police executed a search warrant at a home on Balkee Drive in Caboolture, where they will allege Ms Howe lived with one of the two men charged over her death.

Det Snr Sgt Green said both men were known to Ms Howe.

"The missing person [Ms Howe] resides at the address with one of the men that live at Balkee Drive," he said.

"They resided together but they are not in a relationship."

He said the other man would visit the house, which has now been designated a crime scene.

At a press conference in Caboolture this afternoon, Det Snr Sgt Green said the investigation was still in its early stages, and it was too soon to make comment about Ms Howe was allegedly murdered, or what led to both men being charged with misconduct with a corpse.

Police were alerted to the heavily decomposed remains on Tuesday afternoon, after they were discovered by two young men who had been driving on a remote four-wheel-drive trail in the Beerburrum State Forest at Glass House Mountains.
