Two men arrested for 'murder' of missing nurse, 24, who vanished 3 weeks ago

Police have arrested two men on suspicion of murder, as the search continues for a vulnerable student nurse who was last seen over three weeks ago.

Owami Davies, 24, was last seen just after midnight on Derby Road in West Croydon on July 7, after she left her family home in Grays, Essex.

Owami's family and friends had not heard from her since, nor has she attended work.

Two men, aged 23 and 27, were arrested on Monday, August 1, in the Croydon area and remain in custody at a South London police station, My London reports.

This came after detectives from the force’s Specialist Crime Command took over the case because they had the resources and expertise required for a complex investigation.

The case currently remains a missing person’s probe and the Metropolitan Police appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

In a statement, it said detectives were extremely concerned for the 24-year-old’s welfare and wished to speak to anyone who may have seen Omami on Wednesday, July 6, or the early hours of the next day.

Owami was initially described by police as a black woman with her hair in two cornrows. She was wearing a black jumper, grey jogging bottoms and a grey cap at the time of her disappearance.

The young woman has links across the borough of Thurrock, according to Essex Police.

Detective Constable Marie Spear, from the Missing Persons Unit in south London, said: "Owami's family have not heard from her for more than three weeks and she has not turned up to work.

"We are currently treating this as a missing person investigation.

"Owami was in a vulnerable state when she was last seen and we need the public's help in piecing together her movements on the night she went missing.

"I would urge anyone who has seen her, or knows where she is, to contact police immediately. I'd also ask people in the West Croydon area to check their sheds and outbuildings and report anything suspicious or out of the ordinary."

Anyone with information about Owami's whereabouts is asked to call police on 101 or tweet @MetCC quoting reference 22MIS025307. Alternatively, contact the Missing People charity in confidence on 116 000.
