Two Manchester United players told they're 'not good enough' by Arsenal legend

Former Arsenal defender William Gallas has suggested that Manchester United captain Harry Maguire is 'not good enough' to play for a top-six Premier League club.

Maguire has endured a difficult campaign so far this season, with the 29-year-old defender making just nine appearances in all competitions for the Reds. He has only made three Premier League starts and has fallen behind Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane in the pecking order under manager Erik ten Hag.

However, the centre-back enjoyed a solid tournament in Qatar and was one of the England's standout performers - playing every single minute as the Three Lions exited the competition after losing to France in the quarter-finals.

Despite Maguire's impressive tournament in Qatar, ex-Gunners man Gallas has claimed that United are 'too big a club' for the defender and suggested he should not be target for other sides.

"Manchester United is too big a club for Maguire, that is why he has not performed there," Gallas told Genting Casino. "I’m not sure if Tottenham will want him at the back. They need defenders but Maguire would not be good for them. He is almost 30 years old and he does not have as much speed as others.

"The older Maguire gets, the less speed he will have. Tottenham should invest in players who are younger and who are the future. They should try to sign Gvardiol over Maguire."

Gallas, who made over 300 appearances for Arsenal and Chelsea, also claimed that Rashford has not performed well enough to 'earn' a transfer to Paris Saint-Germain. The French side have been linked with a move for the England international, with club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi admitting the Ligue 1 giants have been interested in the player before and could be again next year.

"Rashford to PSG will not happen. Marcus has not been good enough since the beginning of the season and has not shown how good he was when he first started playing for Man United," Gallas added.

"He was unbelievable, however now it is completely different. PSG already have players in that position so they do not need Rashford."

Much like Maguire, Rashford enjoyed a productive World Cup campaign and registered three goals. However, the 25-year-old only made one start for the Three Lions in the entire tournament.
