Two Lanarkshire towns given go-ahead to host fireworks displays on Bonfire Night

Guy Fawkes revellers can celebrate Bonfire Night once again with the return of organised fireworks displays in East Kilbride and Strathaven.

Following two years of cancellations due to the Covid pandemic, 3rd East Kilbride Scouts and Strathaven and District Round Table's annual bonfire and fireworks displays will be going ahead on Saturday, November 5.

The scouts event is held in the grounds of the 3rd East Kilbride Scout hall in Carlyle Drive, Calderwood. Gates open 7pm with the fireworks display at 7.30pm.

All members of the group will have VIP tickets to guarantee entry via the side gate for them and their families.

Member of the community are welcome to go along with entry being granted on a first come, first served basis via the main gate.

Donations will be collected to contribute to the cost of the fireworks and for the scout group on the night with tea, coffee, soup, hotdogs and a tuckshop for sale. Please not there is no parking available in Carlyle Drive.

Elsewhere in Strathaven, the Round Table is delighted to welcome back its annual fireworks and bonfire event to raise charitable cash for the community.

Gates open 7pm with bonfire lit at 7.30pm and fireworks at 8pm. Food trucks will be available.
