A seaplane has plummeted into the water at a dam killing two onboard.
The victims were trapped inside the aircraft after an unsuccessful emergency landing attempt.
Pilot, Renato Fernandes de Oliveira Junior, 72, and passenger, Horacio Morales, 74, lost their lives after the plane started to sink.
Firefighters removed the victims’ bodies from the submerged aircraft and family members identified them shortly afterwards.
The fire department said the accident took place at the Jaguara Dam on the Rio Grande near São Paulo, Brazil, at around 2pm on April 30.
The plane crashed near the luxury Porto Jaguary Condominium complex.
According to residents, the seaplane was flying at a normal height before suddenly plummeting into the water.
The authorities will carry out an autopsy to establish the victims’ cause of death and shed light on whether the pilot suffered a health problem in the moments leading up to the crash.
The Cessna A185E seaplane was correctly licensed for various types of services except to operate as an air taxi.
The purpose of the flight, the final destination, and the cause of the accident are currently unclear.
The police confirmed that the incident is being investigated by the Centre for Investigation and Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents (CENIPA).
Earlier this week, a huge manhunt was launched after a man reportedly stabbed his wife to death before fleeing with his six-year-old daughter.
Micaela Juarez Ocolt, a "hardworking" and beloved mother, was allegedly stabbed to death by her own husband, and was found dead at her workplace in a mall on South Midvale Boulevard, Madison, Wisconsin on April 24.
Her husband, Jose Duenas-Quinonez, 37, and his six-year-old daughter, Avril Duenas-Juarez, have reportedly fled to Mexico, leaving the FBI in hot pursuit.
According to reports, the couple had a violent argument the night before her tragic death.
Micaela's adult son revealed that his mother's spouse had been showing increased levels of jealousy and controlling behaviour for the past month.
Despite leaving the country over 24 hours before the police were alerted about the homicide, the authorities are working tirelessly with the FBI to apprehend the fugitive suspect.
An Amber Alert was almost issued when the duo's departure was discovered.
A statement from the Madison Police Department read: "Jose Duenas-Quinonez has been identified as the suspect in this case.
