Two jailed for life after Richmond petrol station brawl ends in murder

Two men have been handed life sentences for stabbing someone to death in a petrol station fight.

Leone Davies and Justin Romano, both 19, will be behind bars for at least 20 years for the murder of 31-year-old Mirko Naramcic.

All three were involved in a brawl between two groups on March 17, last year.

Metropolitan Police officers were called to the area of Maguire Drive in Richmond, at around 11.20pm, but could not find any victims when they arrived.

Shortly afterwards three men, including Mr Naramcic, attended hospital having sustained stab injuries.

Despite the efforts of medical staff, Mr Naramcic died in hospital - a post-mortem gave the cause of death as a stab injury.

Investigators then went on to discover that Davies left the scene and drove to the home of Eve Carter.

She helped to dispose of his phone but detectives were able to find it and analyse what was on it.

Over the coming weeks, detectives made a series of arrests in connection with their investigation resulting in seven people initially being charged.

Carter pleaded guilty to perverting the course of justice and is yet to be sentenced.

Davies, of Twickenham, and Romano, of Kingston, were both jailed for life with a minimum term of 20 years on Tuesday.

They were convicted of murder and two counts of wounding with intent.

Detective Chief Inspector Geoff Grogan said: “Our thoughts today remain with Mirko Naramcic’s family and friends as they continue to struggle with his tragic loss.

“Mr Naramcic had spent the day drinking and enjoying the company of friends. His night ended with him being violently attacked and ultimately losing his life.

“This case, once again, highlights what can happen when people go out armed with knives without thinking about the consequences.”
