Two Instagram influencers have been killed in a horror crash with an overturned lorry while on their way to a friend's birthday party.
Letícia Hordones, 26, and 21-year-old Júlia Noara were killed after reportedly ploughing head-on into the HGV on a highway in Nova Serrana, Brazil, on the evening of October 28.
The lorry had been carrying coal when it overturned on the highway and ended up blocking the opposite lane, according to local media.
The influencers were pronounced dead at the scene, it is reported.
Two other women who were also in the car, aged 25 and 22, have been hospitalised with one described as being in a serious condition, as of yesterday.
The group left the municipality of Divinópolis for the area of Pará de Minas to attend a fellow influencer’s birthday party.
The organiser, named as Hugo Gomes, cancelled the event when he heard about the tragic accident.
He wrote on social media: “Unfortunately, yesterday, 4 friends [had an accident] driving to my birthday to celebrate.
"I waited to calm down a little to talk to you and explain the real facts. And I ended my birthday when I heard the news.
“Two beloved and dear friends have passed away and the other two are in hospital. I just ask for a lot of prayers from you and thank you for all the messages. I only ask for prayers for all the families.”
The vehicle, which was completely destroyed in the crash, was removed from the highway and transported to a nearby accredited yard.
Local reports said the 25-year-old lorry driver sustained minor injuries in the incident.
Friends and family have mourned the influencers’ deaths on social media and asked for prayers for the other two hospitalised women.
Letícia had 12,000 followers on Instagram and Júlia had nearly 14,000.
In her final post on Instagram, Júlia shared a photo of her celebrating her 21st birthday.
She wrote: “21 years of smiles, tears, hugs, friends, caresses and obstacles overcome.
"The paths I chose make me the person I am today, grateful and happy for another cycle completed! Thank you God for another year of life!”
She was buried at the Paz Cemetery and Letícia was interred at Parque da Serra Cemetery, both in Divinópolis.
The investigation into the accident remains ongoing.
