Two people are in hospital after their car smashed into a building in Aberdeen and overturned in the middle of the road.
Mercy crews rushed to Crown Street in Aberdeen city centre in the early hours of Tuesday October 11 following reports that a vehicle had landed on its roof. It is believed the vehicle, a red Citroen hatchback, crashed into a building before it flipped over.
Images from the scene show railings on a nearby building bent and twisted, surrounded by debris from the collision. Police say that a man and a woman have been taken to hospital for treatment, but were unable to advise of any injuries or their present condition.
The street has been closed while officers carry out inquiries into the smash, with a heavy police presence still on the scene. No other vehicles were involved in the collision.
Motorists have been advised to find alternate routes. In the meantime, Police Scotland has launched an appeal for information and has asked anyone who witnessed the crash, or may have any information, to get in touch.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 1.35am on Tuesday, 11 October, 2022, police were called to Crown Street in Aberdeen, following a report of a one-car crash.
“A man and a woman have been taken to hospital for treatment and enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the crash remain ongoing.
“Crown Street is currently closed between Union Street and Springbank Terrace, as officers remain at the scene.”
