The driver of a white BMW remains in custody on suspicion of dangerous driving after a crash involving a bus and another car left two casualties in hospital.
Emergency services were called to Tannery Lane in Penketh at around 3.50pm on Tuesday. A Cheshire Police spokeswoman said the collision involved a bus, a red Toyota Aygo and a white BMW.
The BMW’s driver, a 23-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, drug driving, driving without insurance and driving while disqualified. He remains in custody.

The driver of the bus, a 60-year-old man, and the Aygo’s driver, a 47-year-old woman from Rochdale, were both taken to hospital, although their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Widnes Road westbound between Warrington and Widnes was shut during the emergency response on Tuesday afternoon and into the evening.
When the ECHO attended the scene, damage was visible to the bus and the front end of the BMW, while a red car appeared also to have been involved.
The bus appeared to be the number 32 Golden Square service.
Several marked police cars in addition to an unmarked vehicle, and two fire engines were at the scene, in addition to two ambulances, one of which was departing towards Warrington with its lights going but no siren.
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service (CFRS) said two appliances, from Penketh and Widnes, attended.
A CFRS spokesperson said: "A car was well alight at a road traffic collision in Warrington involving three vehicles and a bus. Crews wore breathing apparatus and used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire.
"Police and ambulance were both in attendance with casualties being taken care of by paramedics.
"One carriageway of Widnes Road was closed due to the incident. "
The police spokeswoman added: “Enquiries in relation to this incident are ongoing and anyone with any information in relation to this incident is asked to contact Cheshire Police via cheshire.police.uk, or call 101, quoting 1458394.”
