The Madrid flight was sent to Shannon Airport just after 9pm, and didn't return to Dublin until 1am.

The Bristol flight was sent to Belfast just after 11:30pm, and didn't return to Dublin until 2:30am this morning.

A daa spokeswoman told Dublin Live: "We can confirm that due to strong wind conditions last night, two aircraft were diverted from Dublin Airport.

"Shortly after 9pm, a Ryanair flight from Madrid was diverted to Shannon. The aircraft refuelled at Shannon and returned to Dublin and landed just before 1am.

"Just after 11.30pm, a second Ryanair flight from Bristol was diverted to Belfast International Airport.

"The aircraft refuelled at Belfast and returned to Dublin and landed just after 2.30am."

"Ryanair sincerely apologised to all those affected by this weather diversion, which was entirely beyond our control," a Ryanair spokeswoman told Dublin Live.
