Two drown, three survive as fishing boat capsizes off Kakinada coast

Two fishermen died after the boat in which a crew of five ventured into the sea capsized on its way back to the Kakinada fishing harbour on the night of November 20. The five fishermen ventured into the sea the same day.

The incident took place barely a few hundred metres from the lighthouse area in Kakinada city.

“Mylapuram Krupa (38) and Garikina Sattiraju (55) drowned in the accident. Their bodies have been recovered on November 21. Three other fishermen luckily survived,” Kakinada Port Circle Inspector V. L. V. K. Sumanth told The Hindu.

The crew members are native of Kakinada city. The boat reportedly capsized due to heavy winds and unfavourable weather conditions.

The police recovered the bodies and sent them to the Government General Hospital for a post mortem examination.
