Two Doors Down viewers brand Christmas special ‘one of the best in years’

Hit TV series Two Doors Down returned last night for a Christmas special, labelled ‘one of the best in years’ by fans.

The one off episode saw our favourite neighbours swap the crescent for a cosy coffee shop, where it turned out Christine (Elaine C Smith) discovered £70 worth of points on her card and treated the gang.

In traditional Two Doors Down style, things didn’t go quite to plan - and we got a lost wallet, Christine’s family unable to make it up the road, and some vegetarian jokes at Gordon’s expense.

Of course it all worked out in the end, and after getting misty eyed Christine got a text from her daughter Sophie at the end of the episode saying she’d be home for the festivities after all. Fans were quick to take to social media, after the ‘unexpected emotions’ from the typically hilarious show.

Paul Curran took to Twitter to say: “Lovely episode, best sitcom on the box over the last few years and congratulations to all involved.”

David Steele agreed: “That was the best episode so far. Elaine C Smith was terrific.”

Richard Lloyd was on the same page as well: “Tonight’s episode of Two Doors Down was the best ever.

“Not a dry eye in this house. So moving and totally believable.

“Great performances all round, Happy Christmas.”

Steven Jackson said: “Two Doors Down is definitely the best comedy show that’s been on TV for years. I loved it, I wish the episode was an hour.”

David Morgan tweeted: “I really loved the Christmas special of Two Doors Down.

“Hilarious, well played and deeply moving without any over-sentimentality or manipulation required. Elaine C Smith should get unlimited points on her card for that performance.”

One line from Christine really got people talking, when Eric suggested sitting on the coffee shops window stools and she replied: “We’re no sittin on a row ae stools - we’re no f***** Westlife.”

Marnie Welsh said: “Favourite Christine line in the episode. Elaine C Smith was fabulous, great stuff.”

Owen agreed: “Two Doors Down was brilliant, probably the best bit of TV I’ll see this Christmas, loved the ending and still laughing at Christine’s Westlife comment.”

The Christmas special and all episodes of Two Doors Down are available to view on BBC iPlayer.
