Two Dead, Five Injured In Washington, D.C. Shooting

Authorities in Washington, D.C., are actively investigating a tragic shooting incident that occurred over the weekend, resulting in two fatalities and five individuals sustaining injuries. The incident took place around 3 a.m. on Sunday near the intersection of 7th Street and P Street Northwest, as per the Metropolitan Police Department.

The victims were targeted by one or more suspects who opened fire, with the motive behind the attack remaining unknown at this time. The deceased victims have been identified as a 32-year-old Washington, D.C., resident named Anthony Brown and 32-year-old Jay Lucks from Baltimore.

Following the shooting, five additional victims, three men, and two women, were discovered with gunshot wounds in the 600 block of P Street. Emergency services promptly transported them to local hospitals, although their current conditions have not been disclosed.

Law enforcement officials have described at least one suspect as having an average build and wearing a blue shirt and light-colored pants, who was observed fleeing the scene on foot in the 700 block of P Street Northwest.

The incident unfolded in an area known for its popular restaurants, situated just a few blocks away from the Capitol One Arena. The Metropolitan Police Department is offering a reward of up to $50,000 for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the shooting.

As of the latest update on Monday, the city has reported 32 homicides this year, marking a 32% decrease from the same period last year when 47 homicides were reported in Washington, D.C.
