Two dead after plane crashes into Florida motorway, with survivors seen fleeing from fireball

Two people died after a plane crashed into a Florida highway and burst into a fireball.

The small aircraft crashed on Sunday after failing to make an emergency landing at Naples Airport, resulting in the deaths of the pilot and co-pilot.

Air hostess Sydney Ann Bosmans, 27, and passengers Aaron Baker, 35, and Audra Green, 23, were filmed by passing motorists running away from the burning wreckage.

Pilot Edward Daniel Murphy, 50, and co-pilot Ian Frederick Hofmann, 65, were the two to die after the plane’s engines failed.

A previously released audio clip from the final moments heard the pilot saying: "We're not going to make it to the runway. We lost both engines.”

The control room was heard to say: "Everybody stands by, there's an emergency in progress, everybody stands by."

After the plane crashed at Pine Ridge Road, a motorist driving by is heard shouting "Is there anybody else in there?" to which a woman shouts back, “Yes, our pilots”.

A crowd then gathered round as cars pulled over by the wreckage and lanes of the highway were closed to traffic. The Mirror reported that the three seen running from the plane all survived.
