Two men have been charged after gardai interrupted a robbery in Co Meath on Monday.
Plain clothes Gardaí from Ashbourne Garda Station were on patrol in Ratoath Village at around 6.50pm when they observed a robbery in progress at a premises on the Fairyhouse Road.
Gardai ran to the store, where they arrested one individual.
A second attempted to flee the scene but was arrested following a short foot chase.
Both culprits were armed with knives.
A third individual managed to escape the scene and remains on the loose.
Both men were arrested for robbery and detained at Ashbourne Garda Station.
They were later charged with one count of robbery each.
The men were taken before Trim District Court on Tuesday and were remanded in custody to appear in court on a future date.
A garda spokesperson said: “Detectives in Ashbourne are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the movements of these individuals before the robbery or if they had observed any suspicious vehicles in Ratoath prior to 6.50pm on Monday last, to contact them at Ashbourne Garda Station on 01 8010600.”
