Two buildings in Stanley were evacuated by police earlier after false reports that a bomb had been set.
Officers from Durham Constabulary were informed that an explosive may have been present at premises on Medomsley Road, Consett and Front Street after 8.15am on March 28. Officers put cordons in place at both locations while they were assessed.
A spokeswoman for Durham Constabulary said that their officers attended both buildings in Stanley to carry out checks for any malicious items. The buildings have since re-opened after no bombs were found at either site.
