Two blockbuster in-season trades creates massive AFC East shake-up

The AFC East division got significantly better with two monster trades sending All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams to the New York Jets and five-time Pro Bowler Amari Cooper to the Buffalo Bills on Tuesday.

Adams joining the Jets reunites him with legendary quarterback Aaron Rodgers. It’s a terrifying signing on paper with Adams teaming up with the likes of Garrett Wilson and Breece Hall.

Meanwhile, Cooper gives Josh Allen a new No. 1 receiving target after he lost Stefon Diggs in the offseason. That goes without mentioning the likely return of Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa to a loaded offense of Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle and De’Von Achane.

It has to be disappointing for New England Patriots fans to watch top-tier talent flock to other teams in the division.

There’s hope that rookie quarterback Drake Maye can help reignite the offense and make New England a more attractive destination for players. They’re in dire need of talent in an AFC East division undergoing an arms race in offensive firepower.

The Patriots will have their work cut out for them to find relevance once more in a division quickly passing them by.
