Two men have been arrested over the 2006 disappearance of a Victorian man whose car was found on fire at a coastal lookout.
Christopher Jarvis, 38, was last seen leaving his home on Warne Road at Wangoom in the state's west, where he lived with his partner and stepchildren, at about 6am on June 13, 2006.
Mr Jarvis's colleagues contacted his partner when he didn't show up for work at about 7.30am, and his silver 1991 Ford station wagon was found on fire at Thunder Point half-an-hour later.
Thunder Point is a popular coastal lookout at Warrnambool on the state's south coast.
Police initially thought Mr Jarvis's disappearance was unsuspicious, and his case was treated as a missing persons matter.
However, the public handing over fresh information to the missing persons squad led police to believe other people were involved in his disappearance.
Officers on Tuesday morning executed search warrants at two homes in Wangoom and Warrnambool, and arrested a 70-year-old Wangoom man and a 59-year-old Warrnambool man.
Both have been taken into custody and will be interviewed, according to police.
They have urged anyone with information about Mr Jarvis's disappearance to contact them.
