Two men have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after a woman was killed in Dagenham.

The 63-year-old victim was hit on Leys Avenue and pronounced dead at the scene at around 8am on Friday, January 26.

Two cars were involved in the collision in the area of Rainham Road South and police were called at around 8.25am the same morning.

Men aged 42 and 47 have since been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving but have both been bailed pending further enquiries.

A Metropolitan Police statement added: “Officers attended and the woman was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Her next of kin have been informed and continue to be supported by family liaison officers.”

On Saturday, the force renewed their appeal and said that detectives from the Roads and Transport Policing Command are leading the investigation.
