Two arrested after reports of 'disorder' in Piccadilly Gardens

Two people were arrested in Manchester City Centre this evening following reports of 'disorder'. Officers were called to Piccadilly Gardens around 5.20pm.

Pictures taken at the scene showed two people, a man and a woman, being detained by officers on the benches just outside the garden's walls opposite the Primark store before being led away. Greater Manchester Police have confirmed that the man and woman have been arrested.

The man has been arrested on suspicion of affray while the woman was arrested on suspicion of common assault. No further details have been released at this time.

A GMP spokesman said: "At around 5:20pm today (10 August 2022) we received a report of public disorder in Piccadilly Gardens, Manchester. I can confirm two people have been arrested at this time: one adult man for affray and one adult woman for common assault."
