Two 19-year-old women, Elle Eisele and Steele Idelson, who graduated from the Canterbury School in Fort Myers, Florida, were among those injured in the tragic New Orleans attack on Wednesday. Eisele attends the University of Georgia, while Idelson is a student at San Diego State University.
The Canterbury School expressed deep gratitude for the overwhelming support and prayers received for the two young women following the incident. The families of Eisele and Idelson also acknowledged the exceptional care and compassion provided to their daughters at University Medical Center. They extended heartfelt thanks to the first responders for their swift actions, which potentially saved the lives of the students.
University of Georgia President Jere W. Morehead confirmed that a UGA student was critically injured in the attack and is currently receiving medical treatment. Morehead reached out to the student's family to convey support and well wishes on behalf of the entire UGA community.
The University of Georgia and the University of Notre Dame were scheduled to compete in the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans on Wednesday night. However, due to the tragic events earlier in the day, the game was rescheduled to Thursday at 4 p.m. ET.
