The Tennessee Titans left their fan base stunned on Thursday night when they sent wide receiver A.J. Brown to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for two 2022 NFL draft picks, Nos. 18 and 101 overall.
And, with the No. 18 overall pick, the Titans selected Arkansas wide receiver Treylon Burks.
Even with Burks on the roster, trading Brown leaves a gaping hole in a wide receiver corps. that already needed help. Maybe Burks turns out to be just as good as Brown, but there’s no telling that will be the case, and often times young receivers need time to develop.
We’d be absolutely lying if we said we saw this trade coming. After all, while there was some public frustration from Brown, all reports suggested he wouldn’t be dealt and a long-term deal was practically inevitable.
Boy, were those reports wrong. Now, Brown is in Philly and the Titans are depending on a rookie to pick up a ton of slack right away.
