The Houston Texans picked former Baylor safety Jalen Pitre with the No. 37 overall pick in Round 2 of the 2022 NFL draft Friday.

Houston shores up their secondary with a defensive back who can play deep. Coach Lovie Smith also gets a talented, young safety who can thrive in his Tampa 2 scheme.

Through the first three picks the Texans made in the 2022 draft, not only did Houston pick a local collegiate kid, but also a prospect who played high school football in the Greater Houston area.
