The New York Giants have secured one of their franchise cornerstones through the 2029 season after locking up left tackle Andrew Thomas with a long-term contract extension on Wednesday morning.
The team has since confirmed the signing, and according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Thomas’ deal is for five years and is worth $117.5 million, with a whopping $67 million guaranteed.
While Thomas’ annual average ($23.5 million) did not surpass Houston Texans left tackle Laremy Tunsil’s ($25 million), it does rank second in the NFL, per Over the Cap.
And, as Schefter notes, the fully guaranteed money in Thomas’ deal is a new record for offensive linemen.

After years of ineptitude along the offensive line, the Giants finally found themselves a rock for the blindside, and Thomas’ rise to one of the best in the sport has helped spur on a resurgence upfront for the franchise.
Here’s a look at how Twitter reacted to the Giants rightly taking care of Thomas.
He’s not going anywhere 😏

I recall #Giants camps of the not too distant past where we were closely watching Andrew Thomas’ reps, wondering if he’d ever be a franchise tackle. On the first day of 2023 camp practices, here we are. https://t.co/xcr0UMJxDE

This is why it's hard to go too crazy about the Giants negotiating hard with Saquon Barkley. This offseason Joe Schoen has re-signed …
QB Daniel Jones – 4 years, $160M
DT Dexter Lawrence – 4 years, $90M
LT Andrew Thomas – 5 years, $117M— Jordan Raanan (@JordanRaanan) July 26, 2023
I remember how much heat #Giants OT Andrew Thomas took early in his career, now look at him.
Players tend develop at their own pace, which is why to practice patience with these dudes when they get drafted.

Andrew Thomas has given up a sack every 329 snaps over the past 2 years.
329 snaps, guys. Just process that, especially against some of the BEST pass rushers in the game.
