Twitter reacts to Chiefs’ brutal one-point loss to Lions in Week 1

The Kansas City Chiefs absolutely blew it. After leading the Detroit Lions for most of their Week 1 matchup, the Chiefs shocked the world by playing one of the sloppiest halves of football in recent memory on offense.

Drops plagued Kansas City’s receivers all night, and the inability of the team’s pass-catchers to come down with balls in key situations doomed the Chiefs to a 0-1 start to their season.

This loss was particularly brutal because Patrick Mahomes played a lights-out game in all four quarters. Without the drops, his performance would have been seriously impressive on paper.

The only bright spot for Kansas City was the play of their defense, which allowed just 14 points against Detroit’s high-octane offense. Nick Bolton stood out as a top performer, but his efforts were for naught in this stunning loss.

Cue the “Super Bowl hangover” talk at the water cooler on Friday.
