Bo Nix made his first NFL start on Sunday and it did not go well.
The Denver Broncos‘ rookie quarterback went 26-of-42 passing for 138 yards with no touchdown passes and two bad interceptions. He was also sacked twice. One bright spot for Nix was his five carries for 35 yards and a score, but overall, it was a day to forget in Seattle.
Here’s a sampling of how fans and pundits reacted to Nix’s NFL debut.

Bo Nix looks like every QB not named Drew Brees running the Sean Payton system.

I hate to admit it but Bo Nix hasn't missed a beat jumping to the NFL. pic.twitter.com/xaa8MAJpx1

Bo Nix’s first career INT is an UGLY one
Can’t make that mistake there. 3 points erased from the board in a game where it seems O is hard to come by!
Always thought this could be a rough debut for him given the opponent/setting!
— Zach Segars (@Zach_Segars) September 8, 2024
Nix looks really really bad man lmaooo. The hope is that he just has to settle in after his first NFL game but man this is brutal to watch.

We've seen some bouts of inaccuracy from Bo Nix in camp, especially over the middle, but not by these kind of margins.
Rough outing so far for the #Broncos rookie QB.

Bo Nix has just stared down the receiver for 2 minutes before throwing it.

Broncos not doing much to dispel the notion that Bo Nix doesn't throw the ball downfield.
— Matt Schubert (@MattDSchubert) September 8, 2024
All of Nix's throws are behind his target. This has been frustrating to watch.

At some point, Bo Nix will have to prove he can drive the ball down the middle of the field. That first attempt was a bit of a woof.
— Vic Lombardi (@VicLombardi) September 8, 2024
Bo Nix threw that INT so we could get a safety. Get points and get the ball back. Playing chess, not checkers
— MileHighGreco (@MileHighGreco) September 8, 2024
Bo Nix smart enough to turn it over at the 1 yard line – perfectly setting up his defense for a safety opportunity. Heady play by the rookie QB

Travis Hunter will fix Bo Nix
— Bryce 🎸 (@MileHighMims) September 8, 2024
Bo Nix didn't throw an interception in the preseason. He threw 1 during training camp. He threw only 3 in his final season at Oregon.
Nix has thrown two interceptions in his NFL debut vs the #seahawks. NFL defenses are different. Nix will learn and grow.

This Bo Nix game has been atrocious. Plain and simple. I’m not going to be sugar coating it.
— Joey Richards (@LTB_Joey) September 8, 2024
Lol I knew our fans would freak out the second Bo Nix didn’t look like Peyton Manning.

Broncos fans turning on a rookie QB in record time.
— Tim Wenz (@LwyrUp406) September 8, 2024
Here's the bad news: Broncos won't win 3 games if Bo Nix looks like this all year.
Here's the good news: if they're that bad, they will lose their way into another QB1
— Joe Rowles (@JoRo_NFL) September 8, 2024
He’s a rookie, don’t overreact. We’ll be okay
— Denver Broncos 365 (@DailyBroncos) September 8, 2024
Well, Bo Nix first career game was definitely a rough one. All we can hope for is week to week improvement.
Let’s see Sean Payton’s evaluation was right.

Bo Nix is just a rookie. Bo Nix is just a rookie. Bo Nix is just a rookie.

Nix will get his first opportunity to bounce back next week when the Broncos host the Pittsburgh Steelers (1-0) at Empower Field at Mile High on Sept. 15.
