Connor Heyward was the third Michigan State football alumnus to get drafted in the 2022 NFL draft and it was a very fitting selection as he will be joining his brother Cam Heyward in Pittsburgh after being taken by the Steelers in the sixth round.
Below, we put together some immediate Twitter reactions on the selection.
No surprise to any Steelers fan, the Steelers took Connor Heyward. Let's go. Excited to see what he can do! @CamHeyward how you feeling man?!

Steelers TE coach Alfredo Roberts on picking Connor Heyward: “It’s bigger than bloodlines.”
— Brooke Pryor (@bepryor) April 30, 2022
Connor Heyward holds his own value as an NFL draft pick, beyond his bloodlines, says Steelers TE coach Alfredo Roberts.
"I saw him play in-line, I saw him make plays down the field as a tight end. … He tracked the ball really well."

I love the Connor Heyward pick. 1 he’s Cams brother. And they Heyward family doesn’t belong in any other uniform. Besides that, he’s a utility knife. This gives us flexibility after this season. If watt isn’t extended, boom he can play fullback/ST and can be TE2 when Ebron leaves

People saying the #steelers only drafted Connor Heyward because he’s Cam’s younger brother clearly don’t watch a lot of football. Go watch his college highlights. He’s gonna add another dimension to this offence that is already stacked #HereWeGo

Connor Heyward said @CamHeyward with him in Atlanta “He followed me into my mom’s room (when I got the call) and was like ‘who is that’. I told him ‘one second’, about halfway through I told him it was Coach Tomlin. His facial reaction was just priceless.”

Miserable fans are going to call the Connor Heyward pick a family favor. Nah, he can ball that’s why. #Steelers

I think Connor Heyward is going to be that TE3 on the roster, primarily used as that wing TE that can serve as a lead blocker. He's a weapon in the passing game too. Love this rep on the move to dig out PSU's Jaquan Brisker out of the hole, springing Kenneth Walker. #Steelers pic.twitter.com/X3S14ICBQn

I demand a Cam Heyward vs Connor Heyward rep in backs on backers this summer. #Steelers

You can expect that Connor Heyward will be given a shot to play all kinds of special teams. He's a football player first. You'll find a spot on your roster for a guy like that.
