The New England Patriots lost to the Dallas Cowboys by a 38-3 margin and dropped to 1-3 on the season.
The game wasn’t even close at any point, as the Cowboys managed to put on an offensive clinic against a banged-up and tired Patriots offense. It didn’t help matters that Patriots quarterback Mac Jones turned the ball over three times.
That led to coach Bill Belichick benching the third-year starter for backup quarterback Bailey Zappe. It all begs the question: Who will start under center for the Patriots next week? Jones or Zappe?
Regardless, it was an absolute thrashing by the Cowboys that has left the Patriots reeling and searching for answers. Here’s how Twitter reacted the loss on Sunday.

The New England Patriots and Chicago Bears should be relegated from the NFL after this week…like just bring up an XFL team or something.
How do the Patriots allow the Cowboys defense to score 30 fantasy points😑@DevonDistefano

Do the New England Patriots really stink this bad?

I think enough time has passed and TOM has checked out. Is the hoodie in New England really elite? Was he ever elite? Check Browns record. Patriots post Tom. Come on man.

New England 3, Dallas 31. How's the "Patriot Way," that Mark dummy Davis thinks so much of working out without Brady!? Jets the only team they can beat.

New England #Patriots hit Brady Jackpot for two decades and they’re back fully back to mediocre post Brady and it’s going to be like that for years to come until Belichick hit another QB jackpot and work his Goated magic. Brady can throw the ball the to street bums and win 😂

Do New England Patriots need a reboot? New coach, new QB?

Tom Brady being out of New England has proven Bill Belichick is not a great coach.
Tom Brady was the Patriots.
It's rather amusing.— Nathan Chambers (@NathanLC78) October 1, 2023
Embarassing, pathetic performance #Patriots https://t.co/e213Nasi3Z

I don't think we are better.
I think Patriots were exposed today on many fronts. I think the Teflon finally was scraped off a few key guys while our coaching seems to live in a fantasy land regarding the talent of our squad… we offer no threat to anyone and scare no one.— Cam Sánchez (@CamMagicMan) October 2, 2023
There are NFL quarterbacks that are younger than the patriots absolutely feasting on the cowboys

If Mayo is next would be excited or scared he is too much like Bill?

This the actual 1st game this season that we can put blame on Mac Jones. Still feel like he should have one more year with the team off the simple fact he with his 3rd OC. Chemistry is key for our QB and OC. As for BB I’m starting to think it might be in the Patriot best interest…

I remember when we had an offense that could go up and down the field, damn we can barely cross the 40 these days.

Patriots need a lot of reworking and getting rid of certain folks would be great. Retirement sounds good

Agree. Unlike Brady who made everyone around him better, Jones makes everyone worse.

Patriots are a mess. Would be winless if they didn't play a Zach Wilson team. You're not them boys
— Curtis Godfrey (@Curaclees) October 2, 2023
It was all Brady, you can see that now.
