Guardians star Jose Ramirez may never live down his August altercation with White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson.
During Cleveland’s game on Monday in Minnesota, the Twins’ scoreboard took an opportunity to take a jab at Ramirez on the big screen. When it came time for the 30-year-old to bat, the scoreboard displayed his image alongside a caption that referenced his melee with Anderson.
“Currently 1-0 with a 1st round TKO of Tim Anderson and a no-decision against Miguel Cabrera,” displayed the scoreboard.
On August 5, Ramirez and Anderson engaged in a melee at second base during which punches were thrown. Ramriez ended up catching Anderson in the face with a right hook, sending Chicago’s infielder falling to the ground.

Both players were suspended after the incident. It was determined that Anderson was the instigator, so he was suspended six games while Ramirez received just a three-game ban, which was later reduced to two games.
A few days after the incident, during a matchup between the Guardians and Tigers, Miguel Cabrera jokingly postured up in a fighting stance when he was greeting Ramirez. The Twins referenced that viral moment on the scoreboard on Monday night, though it appears the team determined that bout resulted in a no-decision.
