MLB fans brought an NBA tradition to Tuesday’s Twins–Astros ALDS game.
Basketball fans will often try to psych out players on opposing teams by shouting out the time remaining on the shot clock. In a similar fashion, opposing fans counted out the seconds it took Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo to get up his free throws in the 2021 NBA postseason.
The Minnesota crowd brought that same energy to baseball on Tuesday. Wanting to distract Houston’s pitchers during Game 3, fans began counting down the pitch clock. Viewers couldn’t hear much else other than the Target Field attendees bellowing the numbers on the pitch clock.

The announcers calling the game even noted that the chanting might become more of a challenge as the game went on if Twins fans kept the effort going. Astros starting pitcher Cristian Javier didn’t seem too phased in this video, though.
The division series is currently tied one game a piece. The Astros or Twins will need to win three games to advance to the ALCS.
