Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke revealed she was worried about Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart 's first kiss being 'illegal'.
When Robert auditioned for the popular vampire films, Kristen was already finalised to play the role of Bella Swan.
At the time, Kristen was 17 and The Batman actor - who played Edward Cullen - was 21.
Appearing on The Big Hit Show podcast, the director revealed that the duo had a lot of chemistry together when they acted out the characters first kiss at her Los Angeles Home.
"Rob and Kristen auditioned on my bed, the kissing scene, Rob was so into it he fell off the bed. I’m like, ‘Dude, calm down.’ And I’m in there filming with my little video camera, whatever," she said.
According to Catherine, Kristen was adamant that Robert had to play the glistening vampire.
"I could tell they had a lot of chemistry, and I’m like, ‘Oh my God.’ I thought, Kristen was 17. I don’t want to get in some illegal things," she continued.
"I told Rob, ‘By the way, Kristen is 17. In our country, it’s illegal to have a sexual… ‘ And he’s like, ‘Oh, OK, whatever.'"
The two ended up being fan-favourites with their roles in the Twilight franchise.
Robert and Kristen even started dating in 2009, the year the second movie - New Moon - was released.
The two split temporarily in 2012 after it was reported that the Spencer actress was having an affair with her Snow White and the Huntsman director, Rupert Sanders.
They split permanently in 2013.
In 2020, Kristen opened up about the relationship and explained how she was 'sort of cagey'.
"This was a period of time when I was sort of cagey," Kristen, now 31, explained.
"We did everything we could not to be photographed doing things - things that would become not ours."

Meanwhile, it was revealed in November last year that Kristen and now-fiancée Dylan Meyer got engaged after two years of dating.
It was screenwriter Dylan, 33, who popped the question.
Kristen, who starred as Princess Diana in biopic Spencer, said on SiriusXM’s The Howard Stern Show: "We’re marrying, we’re totally gonna do it.
"I wanted to be proposed to, so I think I very distinctly carved out what I wanted and she nailed it. We’re marrying, it’s happening."
Although the news came out in November, the two were engaged and already celebrated the month or so before.
